{Pass it On Project}

So, I got an email from my online BFF, Creative Carmella.  She asked me if I wanted to participate in the {Pass it On Project}.  "Yes, Of course", I said because anything that got us to do something together, I couldn't pass up. :)

Seeing that I had a little time before I was to receive my items from her, I started considering what I would make, and with whom I'd share.  After sending out a few emails about the "Pass it On Project" I was happy to hear back from my girlfriends Amy at One Artsy Mama and Ginger at Literally Inspired.  They were excited to participate.

Below is a picture of my package of goodies from Carmella.

Here's a picture of what I sent to Amy and Ginger.  Sounded fitting.

They both Received 2 Friendship Bracelets (picture below) as my Handmade gift.

Now with Amy, I kind of cheated. You're suppose to send two items (but there's different rules going around), one for them to keep and one to pass along.  I included one of my Re-Usable Drink Sleeves too because she's a huge Starbucks fan and I had just the right Drink sleeve fabric on hand.

So, there you have it. :)  A successful Pass it On Project

If you decide to join in, let The Space Between know, and have fun passing it on. ;)

{Front Porch} Message Board

I purchased, about 15 years ago, a fun Martha Stewart home crafts book at a garage sale and one of the items I so wished to re-create  was a porch chalkboard.

She had hers on the porch of a summer cottage; a-mazing.  While my house isn't a summer cottage, it is a home that has visitors often, of which I miss.  A message board would be nice, every now and then. And it looks super cute!

The craft called for a Large Black Slate piece, which I never came to find. Which then lead me to recreating it myself, in my style.  I found, at the Goodwill, this Frame and voila the vision was born.

Before / After

I gave the frame a white wash look after a little sanding

Then, I found this great Tutorial for Rosette Flowers online (pinned it, of course) and decided to add them to the frame.

I then decided to have a piece of chalk readily available so, I got my trusty hot glue gun out and, with twine, attached it to the chalk.

Since having completed this project, a few weeks ago, I've added a Burlap Letter to the porch, some flowers, and a watering can.  It's surely my style now!

But here's the funny part.  I've had two random secret messages posted:

After a few days, I discovered who the
sweet messengers were, my girlfriends, they're so silly! :)

So there you have it.  Now get paint on your hands, and make your space, your own.

More Ovaltine Please....

We're an Ovaltine family.  It's a request from both the kids and husband on a daily basis.  Mainly in the afternoon, once my 1st grader is home from school.  I realized the other day, when throwing away the empty container, I'm throwing away a useful item...what could I do with it?

So, here's what I did:

Step 1:
Removed plastic label sleeve
Step 2:
Clean container completely, and let dry
Step 3:
Get out my Chalk Paint (in a paint can, not spray)
Step 4:
Painted 4 coats of an area for labeling the can

Voila!  This is also a great canister for boredom cards, candy for potty training and healthy snacks to keep at your work desk with an inspirational quote on the chalk space.

Pinterest Girls Night In - February

Attended February's PINTEREST GIRLS NIGHT IN.  It brought a new friend to the group and fun projects. Oh, and we can't forget the food!

Below are pictures and information for the projects we did. I succeed at taking more picture this time. :)

The requirement is to bring a craft and food item from Pinterest.

Food:

Now, seeing that I gave up Chocolate for 40 days, a few of these I wasn't able to taste, but I can tell you they
looked and smelled great!!

Projects:

My Girlfriend Casey created a fun Dry Erase Menu board for her family.

My Girlfriend Jen created these "I love you because..." boards, which she hung on her little pumpkin's bedroom doors.

Our newest member, Julie created a beautiful board for Keys to hang from (sorry girls, I only have the during picture).

I created a Fun Burlap letter E to hang on our front door.

It was another fun night, can't wait for March...and I need to decide which project I'm making next...so many to choose from.  This world is full of so many creative women. ;)

I heart Buttons....bracelet

I attended over the weekend a 3rd annual Mardi Gras party with many of our neighborhood friends.  It's always a great time with lots of joking, catching up, amazing craw fish and let's say, some drinking.

I realized, with the blessed busyness lately, I wasn't able to go out and shop for Mardi Gras accessory items so, I had to improvise.  This holiday has as staple of three basic colors, Purple, Yellow and Green...what could I possible have, that would be quick to whip together...BUTTONS.

I headed to my office and began sifting through my many bags of buttons.  I then decided to sew them, by hand, to a piece of yellow ribbon; another always-have-on-hand, ribbon.

Below are images of the project.  Please use it to inspire you for just about any holiday or gathering. These could make great party favors for a little girls party too.

Supplies needed:
Ribbon, any width will do
Buttons
Thread
Needle
Fray Check
Scissors

I didn't take very many pictures of sewing on each button but here's the finished product.

Here's a backside view of the buttons sewn onto the ribbon.

I'm a big lover of Fray Check, I use it on a lot of things.  I used it to clean up where I cut my ribbon.

Finished product.

The possibilities are endless...I think I'll be making one for Independence Day, once it gets closer.

Thankful Leaves Printable

A great craft for both adults and childs.

This printable gives those participating a chance to start thinking about, and sharing, threw words, what they are thankful for.

Instructions:

1.  Print out the Leaf Printable on colored card stock or construction paper
2. Cut out each leaf
3.  Label each one with words that best describe what you are thankful for.
4. Find a central location, even a street facing window, where you can
tape up your leaves for all to see.

How will you display your leaves?
