Celebration...and Giveaway

This lady below, she's my role model and a women who deserves being mentioned.

We received news this weekend of my husbands grandmother's passing.  This beautiful lady, Vel, was very much my grandmother too!  It was a phone call we were expecting, as her time here was limited.  She was 82 years old and was full of life, until the past few months.

She always lead with her heart, was so much fun to be around and always thought of others with all she did. She was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was, and still is, a great role model, one I
will reminisce of often!

While taking in this mornings sunrise and I realized I wanted to share her wonderfulness with everyone.  I knew I had just the right item to give on her behalf.  She was one of my biggest fans, and would be so touched by me doing so!

She loved coffee, especially in the evening (yes, late at night) before the evening shows of Leno and Letterman.  She had the grandma house on the street with windmills, flowers, and lots of color.  She loved Halloween, because of all the kids trick or treating, and made a mean scalloped potato dish, of which I'm blessed to now be the owner of the recipe.

For her, I wish to give an {I Love You}
Re-Usable Drink Sleeve.

Fabric Bracelet Tutorial (for beginners)

A fabric bracelet tutorial, for beginners and up

Below is a picture of my fabric bracelet I posted to Instagram a a while ago.  I got such high reviews from friends that I decided to share with you how to create one for yourself.

What you'll need:

1 Hand sewing needle
1 Toggle Clasp
1 16 1/2" x 2" scrap fabric
Scissors
Clear Ruler
Pencil
Iron
Fray Check (optional)
Sewing Machine Needle 12 or 14
Thread

Project Specs:
Start to Finish Time 30 minutes
Level: Beginner

Step 1:
Cut your strip of Fabric and iron flat

Step 2:
Place your clear ruler an inch from bottom of your strip and draw a pencil mark, along the middle of the fabric

This is what you should have when done

Step 3:
Press with an Iron both sides inward towards your pencil mark, like so

Then fold over both outside edges

Step 4:
Begin to pin along your strip

Now it's time to sew....yippy!

Step 5:
Set your machine to
Zig Zag stitch, 5 Width, 3 Length, 5.5 tension

Step 6:
Sew forward and reverse a little bit at the beginning and then begin to sew down the middle of your strip repeating the reverse and forward at the end, like below

Step 7:
Cut your thread.  Thread a hand needled with a long piece of thread and begin adding your toggle clasps

Bring your hand needle from the bottom side of the fabric, but not through the top layer.

This is how the bottom side should look when done.

This is how it looks when both have been added.

Step 8:
Now it's time to tie our decorative knot at the
center of the bracelet.

Lay it side by side to make sure your knot is in the middle of your bracelet, as best as possible.

Complete:

Enjoy, have fun, add extra bracelets with it, and be creative with colors!

Surprise Giveaway...Style U by Casey

"It is more blessed to give than to receive"
Acts 20:35

So, I wish to announce...

and I can't think of a better
way to spend it.

As I reflect on the last year, I continue to learn more about myself and I'm surely loving the journey.  It's funny how so many of us, myself included, thought we knew it all in our 20's, but now being in our 30's, we're really
learning about life.
One lesson I continue to get confirmation on is, friendships.  When we were little, middle school age, we attached ourselves to one person, in which we labeled our best friend; she was (y)our everything.  Days, months and years were spent with this person through times of struggle, laughter, and personal lessons.  As I grow older, and wiser, I continue to learn that in adulthood a single best friend isn't the case.  As I look at all my girlfriends, close and dear to me (near and far), I call them all my best friends; the ones that know me and/or understand me.  Each fabulous lady in my personal story, has a special quality that was once found in that one person, that middle school friend.  I have girlfriends that I laugh with regularly, talk with deeply, reflect on motherhood with and are together socially.  I'm happy to have learned that in our adult years, one shouldn't put all their eggs (friendships) in one basket (one person). Because if we do that, we limit ourselves from knowing so many wonderful people, that offer extra richness to our lives, and you to theirs.  Some people don't like to get older, but I've come to learn it's a wonderful thing.  So, I feel blessed for this birthday and those down the road.

Along side friendships, I feel overly blessed by all the wonderful fans/customers I have, so its to you, I give away 2 of my favorite accessories.

2.  A purse scarf from Style U by Casey
We met last year because her sweet, twin daughters, and my son, started Elementary school together.  Since then, she's transformed her limited free time into running a styling business (she's my personally stylist, when I'm not wearing workout clothes), selling Stella & Dot, and sewing accessory scarves.  Her signature pieces were made to help those needing a little extra something to their outfit, like a little P.O.C (pop of color).  She's fun, loves to run, and makes me laugh...she's also my
fellow Pauly D groupy!
She's an amazing women, who I'm so happy to
call one of my best friends.

Because of her styling inspiration, she's allowed me to still wear my favorite cotton t's, and jeans,
but now with a pop of color.

1.  A "Blessed" Necklace from Creative Carmella

I've learned that Carmella is a sweet (& wonderful) person and am glad to say she's not an imaginary friend I made up, she real, we've just never had the pleasure of hugging or high five-ing. The internet brought us together, but I feel it's much more than that.  I can say, without knowing her in person, she's super creative, witty, funny, charming, and makes my heart smile.

So, it seemed fitting to share her BLESSED
necklace with you.

Old Shirt - Bracelet Up-Cycle

The T-Shirt UP-cycle Bracelet
Under $5 Gift idea

I'm a cotton t-shirt lover, in a variety of colors. My current  favs are Teal and Coral...
I've come to learn that wearing cotton, with just about any pair of shorts or pants, start to wear right where the button/snap is, leaving small, itty bitty holes.  I was sure we had moths in our closet, but a friend shed light on what the culprit was, the corner edge where the pants close thins the fabric over time...

These two shirts were a weekly staple for me, until now. The pink one, during summer, since it has short sleeves, and the chocolate brown, during fall and winter, because it has long sleeves.

So, instead of tossing them, I decided to re-purpose them with a fun bracelet. Below is a tutorial on how to do it!

You'll Need:
1 - 2 Old T-shirts
Scissors
Cloths Pin

Cut Strips from your shirt like so:
(sorry, chocolate shirt not pictured)

3 Pink Strips in 3 - 4" inches thickness
3 Brown Strips in 3 -4 inches thickness

Combine together 1 Pink and 1 Brown strip each making 3 sets of strips, ideal for 'braiding'.

I then used a cloths pin to hold my 3 strips together for braiding.  I tied a strong knot to close the bracelet. I make it fit just tight enough around my wrist, since it's cotton, it stretches when pulled over to wear.

It looks like this when done.
